Counselors

Lois Mayes, PK-2 Counselor

As a school counselor, I love that I am able to offer students a place where they are able to freely express themselves and feel safe. The elementary school years are a fun time where students are beginning to develop academic self-concept, and confidence as learners. Moreover, it sets the tone for developing positive attitudes and necessary life skills that prepare them to become the next generation of workers, leaders, and decision-makers.

I have many responsibilities, as a school counselor, to include: academic support, goal setting, career awareness and exploration, understanding self, peer relationships, coping strategies, individual and small-group counseling, classroom guidance, one-on-one parent conferencing, and peer support; thus, ensuring a positive and solid foundation for future academic and personal/social success for all students.

I am extremely grateful to be a part of such an awesome team and I look forward to serving this community for many more years to come!

Lorna Danvers, 3-5 Counselor

Warm Greetings Mustangs!

My name is Lorna Danvers (feel free to call me Mrs. D.). I am excited to serve as your part-time counselor this year. Although this is my first year at Montclair, I have served as a school counselor prior, and I have been in the field of education for more than 15 years.

What are some of your favorite things to do? I enjoy traveling with my hubby. I also appreciate alone time; this is when I mostly read, journal, meditate, pray, or simply listen to some great music.

Well, are you ready to get started? I know I am! Please feel free to stop by throughout the year if you need to talk. Classroom guidance, small group and individual sessions are available to you. I am always willing to help because you are important!

Have a great year, Mustangs!

Respectfully,

Mrs. Danvers
